There is an ocean of great music. Music that changes the world. These are the songs you would feel good about letting a toddler listening to, instead of wasting a young one’s mind with pop-culture. Songs that have the potential to be inside that ocean, are listened upon from listeners of every genre of music. Then there is “Pop”, or more accurately described as”main-stream”, which is the combination of music which is most popularly listened to. There is no problem with listening to “main-stream” music, because after all, a song almost always has to go through the main-stream in order to get to the ocean fastest. Then why wouldn’t all songs from the mainstream radio stations make it to this hypothetical “ocean” of great and timeless music? The reason for this is, if a song tries to become popular by deceiving the listener into thinking it’s genuine interest, passion in heart and soul of the artist the only emotion the “Pop” genre is missing is genuine passion. Once you can passionately express yourself through the truth, a song that no longer remains in the misleading veil of “Pop”, the genre has now evolved into something we like to call “PAP”.
